The glory is departed

Alex Cockburn laid down his matchless pen for good, last night. How I will miss him.

... Every day they die
Among us, those who were doing us some good.

Hard to believe cancer was eating away the innards given how chirpy he sounded in this interview (fast forward to minute 30).

sk:
To thine ownself be true,

And it must follow, as the night the day,

Thou canst not then be false to any man.

I always liked Alex, even if he once said I looked "weatherbeaten." He then looked at my wife and said, "But not you."!! RIP, brother Alex.

op:

"Hard to believe cancer was eating away
the innards..."

"Alex kept his illness a tightly guarded secret. Only a handful of us knew how terribly sick he truly was. He didn’t want the disease to define him. He didn’t want his friends and readers to shower him with sympathy."

reaching for the bard here
has its irony sk

but i'll join in:

"Nothing in his Life Became Him ...."

diane:

what a wonderful picture you chose Michael, can almost smell the salt of his skin, mingled with the scent of trees outside such a well lighted place

though he really got on my nerves, I do know right from wrong and I'm highly regretting my snipe now, as he may have regretted some of his towards others

Rest in Peace Alex Cockburn

diane:

oh, and so wonderful, that he likely gave so many Mother, Father, Sister, Brother FUCKERS:
