i drop this in because no one takes the bait if i put such larkdom merely in a few comment cages....not that posts are more then "better at the margin"
ie they every so often tick off the right posse of righteous high conviction vipers
so here is the thesis up here in the big time
vital centerism is a greater evil then lesser evilism
why i bet nation wide
a single" airtime" hour barely passes in one hundred
without some worship of the common vital sensible center of american politics
its as if a veritable atlantis of seet reason and cool self command lay submerged between the ghouishers of our GOP and the herd of loco weed eating jack asses of the Democracy
Barry is perhaps the fatal fool de jour of self righteous pilgrims
headed toward the Great Center
its as if the far flanks
rather then essays
in bright new americas or venerable old ones
were simply
a means toward falling off one edge or other of a flat earth

May I put in a vote for "professional progressivism" gatekeepers?
Their job is to mingle among the lefties, separating the sheep from the goats, all the better to eat lamb and 'scape goats with, my dear.

That is a prime function of each main party
To act as filter and co opted of flank actives
GOP right flank demos left flank
So I couldn't agree more sandy
OWS is very aware of this function
The dembo operatives
like HDW's Martian machines
trudge thru the radical Habitat
zapping and co opting

"vital centerism is a greater evil then lesser evilism"
Two sides of the same worthless plug nickle. Each demands the existence of the other.
"I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth"

Yeah, I know... quoting the bible of all things.

The verse in question has been cited here before, DP:

Sadly, the saying is widely applicable MJS, and quite appropriate in the post you linked.

I think the main function of the political parties is to provide soap opera entertainment to would-be sports fans who don't like sports very much.
Here is American political calculation in a nutshell: "Hmm, lemme see, who's in trouble today - is it Team Coke or is it Team Pepsi? It looks like Team Pepsi. I think I'll cheer for Team Coke because they have nicer-looking players."
The guys who run the whole show must be laughing their asses off at us.

Pied
Circus is part of the play's motivation
Distraction diversion and lots of other D's follow on a well produced circus maxims operation
But we might consider the product of this repeated exposure to circus fare
The minds of the spectators though inherently complexly contradictory
Can be shaped dynamic limitations to that shaping not withstanding
I'm a political economist and after 40 years of it
I still find unexamined bourgeois crochets everywhere in my hea
Our minds despite our innate freely operating brains
are social constructs
Profound ubiquitous meme depravities are the necessary product
of existing ab ovo inside one or other class cloven society

The guys running the show are often as unaware of their ultimate function
As the bulk of the spectators
But ahhh comes a time when
Suddenly scales fall
What was once opaque becomes brilliantly translucent
And
As Vlad the impaler suggests
Sometimes it's
Everywhere and on a mass scale

Drunk
The two parties fit that plug nickel line
Heads or tails
Btw it's not coke and pepsi as two cola products
it's more like
Two whole competing line ups of drink products
pepsi Co and coke Co
They can even go cola versus uncola
Soft drink versus water
Etc etc
Choice within no choice
Since each has a guiding bottom line in the same ultimate currency

Juan that mask and I
Suffer from a generation gap
Btw there are all too few generation gaps
In the amoeboid minds of most of us
Woodstockers
Its far better when generations clash
The combination of dissolving and hardening effects
leads to major shifts in the cultural terrain
Of course it produces a generation of self loving swine
on the younger side of the divide
We Aquarians
are undoubtly and intrinsically
the worse generation in the last 10 or so
That is a great self sacrifice for progress I suppose
Couldn't happen to a better set of cohorts
