Not Tolkien's best poem, but not by any means his worst either, I regret to say. It suddenly popped into my mind as I was reading The Huffington Post blog and encountered this gem from one Russel Shaw:
Troll sat alone on his seat of stone,
And munched and mumbled a bare old bone;
For many a year he had gnawed it near,
For meat was hard to come by.
This is getting real, real tiresome, I know. But I am wondering how many of you who voted for Nader in 2000 rather than Al Gore really believe that Al Gore would have appointed an anti-choice Supreme Court "Justice" in the mold of Samuel Alito.So the South Dakota abortion law is Ralph Nader's fault.A Justice whose ascendancy to the Court would embolden South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds to sign legislation today that if upheld, would sentence SD MDs to five years in jail if they perform abortions -- even in the case of rape or incest.
You've almost got to admire these guys. The loopy, contorted ingenuity, the willed obliviousness, the highly selective but pachydermatously retentive memory. If Alito is so scary, why didn't the Democrats filibuster him? And if the Democrats are so "pro-choice", why is Hillary Clinton supporting an anti-abortion Democrat in Pennsylvania?

Nader is the best whipping boy these pea-brained fuckwits ever had. You don't really expect them to ever let him go, do you ?
Well, maybe sixty to seventy-five years after his death, if the planet still houses human life, he can be rehabilitated. Be patient.
Greg Bates had a couple of amusing ideas for Nader 2008 bumper stickers, but my favorite idea still comes courtesy of a die-hard on Portland Indymedia:
Nader 2008: See You In Hell.
I keep telling people like the fellow above that I'll be happy to discuss Nader's flaws and mistakes until my face turns the color of blue Curacao, but that discussion is only half the picture. If a grumpy, ascetic septegenarian with a huge ego (yeah, because no other politician has a huge ego) is the only person willing to stick his neck out, let's hear some blame for all those supposedly qualified progs of conscience. They know as well as Nader that complaints and calls for your lessers to stand up don't mean shit until you stick your own neck out. But having witnessed and/or participated in Nader's ritual drubbings, they don't dare.
Ergo, they get half the blame for the situation. That seems more than fair to me, and the day they belly up to collect their fair share is the day I will belly up to collect my own.
